The Word Interface Application Window


The Application Window : The Application Window provides the space for your page and documents elements such as charts. (means the functions which help to work on page such as

  • The Quick Access Toolbar
  • The Ribbon
  • The Menu tab and etc are part of  The Application Window

The Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access Toolbarlets you access common commands no matter which tab is selected.

By default, it includes the Save, Undo, and Repeatcommands. You can add other commands depending on your preference

To add commands to the Quick Access toolbar

  1. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Quick Access toolbar.
  2. Select the command you wish to add from the drop-down menu. To choose from more commands, select More Commands.
  3. The command will be added to the Quick Access toolbar.

The Ribbon Bar

The Ribbon is a user interface element, which  is located below the Quick Access Toolbar and the Title Bar. It has eight tabs: File, Home, Insert, Page layout, References, Mailing, Review and View.  Each tab has specific groups of related commands and each  with  several groupsof  commands.  It gives you quick access to the commonly used commands that you need to complete a task.

To minimize and maximize the Ribbon

  • Click the Ribbon Display Options arrow in the upper-right corner of the Ribbon

  • Select the desired minimizing option from the drop-down menu
    • Auto-hide Ribbon: Auto-hide displays your documents in full-screen mode and completely hides the Ribbon. To show the Ribbon, click the Expand Ribboncommand at the top of screen.
    • Show Tabs: This option hides all command groups when not in use, but tabswill remain visible. To show the Ribbon, simply click a tab
    • Show Tabs and Commands:This option maximizes the Ribbon. All of the tabs and commands will be visible. This option is selected by default when you open Word for the first time.
Notes: The Ribbon is designed to respond to your current task, but you can choose to minimizeit if you find that it takes up too much screen space.

The Page Views

Word 2013 and above versions has a variety of viewing options that change how your docoments is displayed.

  • You can choose to view any documents in Normal view, Page Layout view, or Page Break view. These views can be useful for various tasks, especially if you're planning to print the page. To change page views, locate and select the desired page view command in the bottom-right corner of the word window.

  • Zoom To use the Zoom control, click and drag the slider. The number to the right of the slider reflects the zoom percentage.
