If you move back to early 19th century, you can find job titles named “Computer”. Companies and governments used to hire “computers” to do arithmetic calculations.
The word computer com from the word "compute" which means "to calculate"
In fact the original of objective for inventing a computer was to create a fast calculating device.
However more than 80% of work done computers today is of non-mathematical our non-numerical in nature. Hence to define a computer merely as a calculating device is to ignore over 80% of it function.
A computer is a machine or device that perform perform, it processes calculation and operations based on instructions provided by a software or hardware components. It is designed to execute variety of solutions by combining integrated hardware and software components.
