The BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) is a body created by the Constitution of India to select applicants for civil services in  Bihar which is the Indian state according to the merits of the applicants.   • One question papers is asked from General Studies (objective), in which the total number of questions is 150 and maximum marks are 150. Candidates have to answer this within the time limit of two hours prescribed by the commission.
  • Generally  BPSC eligibility criteria 60-70% marks are required to pass in this bihar public service exam, but sometimes this percentage can be less depending on the difficulty level of the questions.
  • The question papers are given in two languages (Hindi and English). 
  • The preliminary examination is qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in this are not added with the marks of the main exam or interview.
  • There is no provision of any negative marking for wrong answers in these bihar combined competitive examination conducted by BPSC.

Descriptive Nature- Main Exam

• • For the successful candidates in the preliminary examination, the main exam is organized in Patna, Bihar at various centers fixed by the commission.
  • The question paper of the main  bihar combined competitive examination is divided into two parts (compulsory and optional).
  • Compulsory Subjects (Mandatory)- General Hindi, General Studies First Paper and General Studies Second Paper are included. Optional Subject - During the release by the candidate, one optional subject selected from the subjects given in it (earlier two optional subjects had to be selected).

Mains Exam Pattern

• The BPSC mains exam pattern will comprise 4 papers out of which the General Hindi paper will be qualifying in nature.
• Candidates can choose any paper out of 34 subjects as an optional paper at the time of completing the application process. 
• These candidates will receive scores out of 900 marks.
• Each examination will be organised for 3 hours and will be a subjective type examination.
• No provision of any negative marking is expected in the BPSC mains exam.

Oral- Interview.

• The candidates selected in the main examination usually have to appear for an interview before the commission after one month.
• The personality of the candidates is tested during the interview in which oral questions are asked by the members of the commission at the designated place in the commission. The answer is to be given by the candidate orally. This process lasts for more than one day depending on the number of candidates.
• The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the sum of the marks obtained in the main examination and interview.
